Michelle E. DiEmanuele
President & CEO
Michelle E. DiEmanuele is President and CEO of The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre. She has spent her career in the public and private sectors leading large-scale change and cultural transformation. Previously, Michelle was Associate Secretary of Cabinet and Deputy Minister in the Ontario Government. During this time, she led the renewal of public services through “Service Ontario” including the introduction of the first ever “Money Back Guarantee” for government services in North America. She reformed human resources, information technology and business services for the Ontario Government. She has also served as Interim CEO at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health, Vice President (Branch and Small Business Banking, Retail Markets/Human Resources), CIBC and Vice President (Human Resources and Organizational Development), Brookfield Properties Ltd.
Michelle is in the Hall of Fame of Canada’s Top 100 most Powerful Women and was recognized as a Top 40 under 40. She serves on numerous Boards, including the Conference Board of Canada and the Ontario Hospital Association.
She received her BA in Political Science from the University of Waterloo and her MA in Political Science from the University of Toronto.
Michelle has extensive experience in driving higher levels of service, people and financial performance through effective change leadership and has worked in healthcare, justice, social services, financial and real estate sectors. She has expertise in human resources management, information technology, business process reengineering, stakeholder management, strategy development, government relations and operations.
Her breadth of public sector experience has provided an excellent foundation for understanding regulatory environments and how the private sector can work effectively with government to achieve better outcomes.
Dr. Matt Gysler
Chief of Staff / MAC Chair Interim Chief of Medical Staff (CVH & THC)
Site Chief of Staff (CVH)
In his role, Dr. Gysler has overall responsibility for the quality of medical care provided at The Credit Valley Hospital site of The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre.
Dr. Gysler received his MD degree from the University of Western Ontario. He received his specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto and subspecialty training in the reproductive endocrinology, infertility and paediatric gynaecology at the University of Toronto and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He was a full-time member of the academic staff at the University of Toronto from 1980 to 1987. He served as Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Credit Valley Hospital from June 2000 until September 2005, when he became the Chief of Medical Staff. He is medical director at ISIS, a regional fertility center in Mississauga, Ontario and a member of the IVF Directors of Canada. He is a member of The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Gopal Bhatnagar
Site Chief of Staff (THC)
Gopal Bhatnagar, M.D., FRCS(C), M.Ed. is the liaison between the medical staff at the Trillium Health Centre site, the hospital board and its executive team. He has overall responsibility for the quality of medical care provided at the Trillium Health Centre site.
Dr. Bhatnagar is a cardiac surgeon with expertise in ‘beating heart surgery’ and a successful career in cardiac research and education. He was head of Trillium Health Centre’s cardiac surgery division since its beginning in 2000. During this time, Trillium’s regional cardiac program has grown to be one of the largest in the province.

AVP, Corporate Strategy & Governance
Karli Farrow is a leader who has been a part of large-scale transformation designed to improve public services in Ontario. She is accountable for integration and strategy, as well as corporate policy and governance.
Since 2009, Karli has been working with The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre to establish and implement processes and plans to achieve strategic goals and deliver results for patients. Through this work, Karli supported the merger process for the two hospitals, which included extensive engagement with staff, physicians, volunteers and the community.
Prior to joining The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre, Karli worked for a health care consulting company where she led critical projects focused on reducing wait times and improving chronic disease management. She has also served in senior advisory roles for the government of Ontario, working to develop and implement strategies to improve access to care and the long-term sustainability of the health care system in Ontario.

Chief Nursing Executive CVH Site Lead
Kathryn Hayward-Murray is accountable for clinical operations, clinical programs, quality, risk and performance management and infection control at the Credit Valley Hospital site. Together with Patti Cochrane at the Trillium Health Centre sites, she has shared accountability for clinical supports, professional practices, ethics and spiritual care.
Previously, Kathryn was Vice President of Strategy, Quality and Organizational Performance and the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) for The Credit Valley Hospital.
Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Nursing and a Master of Science in Teaching. Kathryn is a Certified Childbirth Educator with the International Childbirth Educators Associations. She is currently pursuing her Certified Health Leader (formerly CHE) designation. Kathryn is a Board member with the Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres (CAPHC), a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
She has over 25 years of progressive leadership experience within the healthcare industry and has provided leadership in the community hospital and community-based healthcare environments. She has served as Nursing Director for the obstetrics and paediatrics divisions including responsibility for nursing informatics as well as hospital support departments. She also worked as a Regional Neonatal Education Coordinator for the West Cluster Child Health.

M Site Lead
Patti Cochrane is accountable for clinical operations, clinical programs, quality, risk and performance management and infection control at the Trillium Health Centre sites. Together with Kathryn Hayward-Murray at the Credit Valley Hospital site, she has shared accountability for clinical supports, professional practices, ethics and spiritual care.
Prior to her current role, Patti was Vice President, Patient Services and Quality and Chief Nursing Officer at Trillium Health Centre. Previously, she was Associate Vice President, Performance Excellence and has had a wide range of clinical roles as Director of a number of health systems since the creation of Trillium Health Centre in 1998, and other roles with the Mississauga Hospital starting in 1994.
Patti is a registered nurse with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Masters in Health Science in Health Administration and has recently completed her Canadian Health Executive program designation.
Her accomplishments over the years have been numerous and have included leading patient-centredness initiatives, the design of the decentralized inpatient tower, advancing innovative models of care and quality improvement engagement and adoption. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Innovation Award from the Society of Graduates at the University of Toronto for her inpatient design work. Patti is currently a board member for the Cardiac Care Network, Quality Health Network and is a healthcare speaker on various topics such as quality.
Vice President, Capital Planning, Redevelopment & Corporate Services
Ron Noble is accountable for construction, capital planning and redevelopment, emergency preparedness and business continuity and corporate serves at The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre. He has a proven a track record of delivering operating and capital budgets on time and on budget while maintaining quality of care and strategic intent.
Previously he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Credit Valley Hospital.
Ron has 25 years of progressive leadership experience within the healthcare industry, encompassing both the public and private sectors. Previous roles have included Chief Executive Officer of the Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital, Executive Director of a community based provider of health care services,and Principal consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ron has also served as the Chair of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Healthcare Association and is a lead surveyor for Accreditation Canada.
Ron holds an MBA in Health Services Management and a Hons. BSc in Kinesiology. He is a Fellow of both the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a certified long-term care administrator with the Ontario Long Term Care Association, a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) with the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a certified member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. Ron serves as a Director on the Boards of Shared Services West, The Rekai Centres, Credit Valley Family Health Team and Future Health Services Inc. He is also an Adjunct Faculty Member of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
Vice President, Human Resources, Volunteer Resources & Organizational Effectiveness
Morag McLean is a highly motivated, results-oriented senior public sector leader with extensive human resources and organizational development experience leading and managing cultural change in large complex public service environments.
Since joining the Ontario Public Service in 1977, Morag has held a variety of senior level positions in the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Management Board Secretariat, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs, Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Government Services.
In June 2004, Morag was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Centre for Leadership and Learning (CFLL) responsible for fostering an enterprise-wide leadership and management culture. Morag’s leadership responsibilities encompass executive recruitment, talent management, learning & development, attracting & retaining youth/new professionals and administering an open and transparent public appointments process for agencies, boards and commissions.
In July 2008, in addition to leading the Centre for Leadership and Learning, Morag was appointed as Chair of the Public Service Commission of Ontario. The PSC’s mandate is to provide strategic enterprise oversight and direction for the effective management and administration of human resources across the Ontario Public Service.

Vice President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer WT Site Lead
May Chang is a collaborative leader who believes in the power of teamwork and relationship building to foster growth and development.
A Certified Management Accountant, May graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (majoring in Commerce). May received a Faculty Scholar Certificate from the University of Toronto in recognition of academic work accomplished with High Distinction and has also received a lifetime membership to the Golden Key National Honour Society in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence.
Previously, May was the Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Trillium Health Centre. Prior to joining Trillium, May was the CFO for the Niagara Health System and her portfolio included Finance and Support Services. May provided leadership and direction for all major financial decisions. She was Chair of the Treasurer for the Board of Trustee and provided support to the Finance and Audit Committee (sub-committees of the Board). May has also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at York Central Hospital.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Steve Hall is responsible for Information Technology and Clinical Informatics at The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre.
Since earning his BSc Hons and MSc degrees from Queen’s University, Steve has previously served as Chief Information and Privacy Officer at William Osler Health System, Chief Technology Officer with Cancer Care Ontario, Chief Information Officer at Legal Aid Ontario, and leadership roles within the pharmaceutical industry. His technology credentials include IT Governance, ITIL, Systems Security, Data Warehousing, IT Infrastructure, Software Development, Clinical Informatics and Project Management. Steve was instrumental in development and implementation of the Provincial Wait Times Information System.
Steve’s career successes stem from building strong relationships and remaining focused on enabling business change through the strategic application of information and technology supports. His twelve years of senior leadership experience ideally position him to work collaboratively and responsively with the stakeholders of both organizations in support of information systems that ultimately serve the patients and families who depend on The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre.
Vice President, Communications, Patient & Community Relations
Krista Finlay is accountable for leading The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre's communications, public affairs and patient relations functions, as well as leading the development of communication priorities that align with the organization's strategic objectives.
Prior to joining the organization, Krista served as President of Taylex Communications.
Krista has over 20 years of experience in internal and external communications and has worked in the government, finance, not-for-profit, human resources and insurance sectors with organizations such as the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, CIBC, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, CUMIS Group Ltd., Alliance Data, and the United Way of Toronto.
She is a member of the International Association for Business Communicators and is accredited by the Canadian Public Relations Society of Canada.
Krista studied sociology and business at the University of Western Ontario and earned her public relations certification from Humber College.
Dr. Norm Hill

Interim Vice President, Quality, Research & Innovation
Dr. Norman Hill is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, General Surgery, and has a Certificate in Health Administration from the University of Toronto. Norman is also a Surveyor with the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation and a Peer Assessor with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. On staff for 27 years, he has also been the Deputy Chief of Staff and the President of the Medical Staff Association.
