The Credit Valley Hospital Elects New Board Chair and Four New Directors At Annual General Meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Mississauga, ON): Joanne Rogers, CA has been elected the chair of The Credit Valley Hospital Board of Directors at the hospital’s annual general meeting today. Ms. Rogers is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP. Her practice focuses on publicly accountable organizations including the government sector, not for profit organizations and publicly listed entities.
Ms. Rogers has served on the Board since 2003 and has held the positions of treasurer and chair of the audit committee. She is past chair of the Peel Lunch and After School Program (PLASP) and has served on other not for profit boards.

Four new board members were also elected at the annual meeting today. They are:

Gary Chin, a partner with Ernst & Young, heading the Canadian Asset Management practice. His current client base includes CIBC Funds, CI financial Corp, Invesco Trimark and Scotia Funds. His board experience includes: working group of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, board member of the auditing and assurance standards board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and board member of the Canadian Mental Health Association of Halton.

Tim McGuire, the partner lead for Mckinsey & Company North American Retail Practice. He has been an active volunteer with the United Way of Toronto, including six years on the Board of Trustees. He is also an active fundraising volunteer. He is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Gillian Platt, former executive vice president, human resources and corporate affairs for Aviva PLC, the 5th largest insurer in the world. She has held a number of board appointments including director, Omers Resources in Calgary, Alberta; executive member Aviva Canada Pension Committee of the Board as well as a number of not-for-profit boards. Ms. Platt is currently providing human resource strategic services and coaching to a number of executive clients.

Neil Skelding, president and CEO RBC Financial Group. Mr. Skelding has global responsibility for RBC Financial Group’s insurance businesses. Mr. Skelding is a former board member for North York General Hospital and is on the Principal’s advisory Council for the University of Toronto. He is also past chair of the Canadian Association of Financial Institutions (CAFII) in Insurance and a member of the Young Presidents Association (YPO). Prior to RBC Mr. Skelding held a number of senior positions in the Canadian Insurance Industry.

The president of the Medical Staff Association and the chairs of the Volunteer Partners’ Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of Directors are ex-officio members of the board that will be named following their annual meetings.
