The Credit Valley Hospital Medical Chief Reappointed For Second Term

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Mississauga, ON) Joanne Rogers, Chair of The Credit Valley Hospital Board of Directors, is delighted to affirm the renewal of Dr. Matt Gysler's contract as Chief of Medical Staff at The Credit Valley Hospital.

As the lead physician, Dr. Gysler is responsible directly to the Board of Directors to ensure the medical staff organization functions within the framework of hospital policies, as set by the Board of Directors. Dr. Gysler also participates as a member of the hospital's administrative team to set hospital policies, priorities and general management strategies as well as the allocation of resources.

Rogers describes Dr. Gysler as "a compassionate and dedicated health care professional who is a respected leader among his medical colleagues. His vision and strategic advice is tempered by his physician and patient perspective and understanding of the administrative challenges and hard choices we make each and every day."

Dr. Gysler was named chief of medical staff in 2005. His new term extends until 2015.

Prior to taking on the role as Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Gysler was Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Credit Valley. He joined the medical staff at Credit Valley in 1987 having been on staff at the Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and having served as Chief of the Division of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology at The Hospital for Sick Children from 1980 – 1988.

He is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He was also an assistant professor for the Department of Paediatrics at U of T from 1980 – 1988. Dr. Gysler received his medical degree in 1973 from the University of Western Ontario and is a Fellow with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Other memberships include the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, the Canadian Fertility & Andrology Society and the American Fertility Society. In 1979-1980 he was granted the McLaughlin Fellowship and was the recipient of the Scholarship Honnefer Model, Germany in 1968-1972.

Dr. Gysler is also Medical Director of the ISIS Regional Fertility Centre in Mississauga.
